The Construction Technician is responsible for providing construction services as required on small construction projects. Although they are not responsible for producing large jobs, depending on their skill set, they may perform some or all the following: rough and finish carpentry, drywall, paint, prefinished hardwood, and laminate flooring. Additional valuable skillsets would include: tile, carpet, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They are responsible for delivering a high quality of construction and service in all dealings with customers, clients, subcontractors, resource providers, and company employees involved in managing construction services. In addition, they may be called upon to assist managing larger projects with a Superintendent, i.e., making calls to subcontractors and performing quality control.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing construction services as required on small construction projects
- Working with rough and finish carpentry
- Working with drywall- start to finish
- Texturing
- Mudding
- Painting
- Installing pre-finished hardwoods and laminates
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction
- Minimum 2 years of installing drywall and mud
- Minimum 2 years flooring experience
- Minimum 2 years painting experience
- Texture experience
- Knowledge and skills to perform construction services as needed
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawls spaces, attics)
- Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to work with/around cleaning products/chemicals
- Ability to travel locally and out of state when necessary
- Ability to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable laws.
- Effective oral communication
- Basic math skills
- Experience in cleaning/restoration preferred
- High school diploma/GED
- Walking and/or standing throughout the day
- Frequent driving and sitting
- Occasionally climbing ladders
- The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions such as heat
- The noise level at individual jobsites can be loud
- The employee is exposed to power tools and other machinery
This is a full-time position, non-exempt FLSA status position, working 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. This position occasionally requires long hours (beyond 8 hours a day), working on-call, and weekend work in support of emergency services. Travel is required and is primarily local. However, some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Wages:
$23 to $30 per hour (paid bi-weekly), dependent on experience and leadership skills.
